Whilst in Berlin we joined a free walking tour of Berlin which lasted about 4 hours. We had a lively and bright New Zealander called Victoria, taking the tour, who gave a very detailed and entertaining history of the city. It was quite cold that day but we really enjoyed the walk and got to know and understand the country and its people, much more for it.
The Berlin Wall and Reichstag. The German Parliament Building.

Brandenburg Gate - A Symbol of German Triumph
Berlin was really cool and the hostel very clean and well organised. I shared with two lovely sisters from Denmark who were on a short holiday. Not seen my travel plug since though? Anyway, the staff were really friendly and efficient. Good internet accesss and really nice breakfast and dinner options. Well when I say really nice, I mean nice and fresh and lots of choice. However the chicken mayo was'nt my first choice at breakfast time. There was also an interesting item which consisted of what I took to be a pepperami sausage, inside some sort of seeded bread tube thingy. This delightful item was called a Bifi". Simon seemed to take a fancy to them. Dave and I passed. We also got the opportunity to meet some fellow travellers on the hostel organised pub crawl! Something a purely bread welsh person could not pass on! In fact we were the last standing, as by the time we had done all five pubs/clubs we could no longer find anyone who was part of the crawl. Met some cool people and also had a couple of doppelganger moments when i first met Peter Schmichael's twin brother and Jack Stripe! Unfortunalty I hav'nt been able to get a pic's of these cool chaps as I fear that taking my camera out on pub crawls and any drink related evenings could end in tears.
